HEALING THROUGH WRITING
The Healing Power of Creative Writing
Writing, as we have all experienced, as both writers and readers is a way to express feelings and give insight into many life situations, including trauma, grief and loss.
The power of the spoken and written word releases one from holding on to images and perceptions once cherished but that prevent us from moving on with our lives. There is then the death of the old and the embracing of the new.
In penning down these processes, either in a book, poem or journal provides a compass of understanding and creates the awareness of inner patterns and reactions within our own worlds. Writing gives us release and creates the possibility of sharing with ourselves and others.
My work as a healer over more than twenty years, has led in my own journey to the healing of childhood trauma from early childhood sexual abuse. My book ‘Trap, Prey, Lust’ is a novel being published early next year in February 2019. It is based on my own story and it took five years to write. In that time writing became one of the major sources of healing for me.
I am deeply committed now as a healer and writer to continue this path of self-enquiry. My new book out next year is called ‘Govinda’. It is one of personal reflections and a journal made on pilgrimages in Spain and India. The book includes a collection of my own poems. The book is a refinement and delineation of my work towards my own healing and inner journey.
As part of my own ongoing work I would like to assist others in making this inner journey through writing and as part of this initiative I am offering individual consultations and small workshops, giving understanding and methods to others who wish to make this kind of writing journey: to heal, create new lives and to take their creative work forward in this way.
